LAS VEGAS, NV (January 2017) For its sixth consecutive year, Law Firm Bailey Kennedy supported the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada by participating in their “Adopt a Family” program. Throughout the month of December, employees of the firm worked diligently to purchase and wrap gifts for a beautifully unique family of 11. Purchases were made with each individual family member in mind and then expertly gift wrapped to resemble something out of Santa’s workshop.
The “Adopt a Family” program was created in the hopes of assisting families whose child had been diagnosed with cancer to help alleviate both the financial and emotional stress that the holiday season may cause a family.
“The generosity and the kindness that the families receive from their ‘adopter’ renews both their strength and spirit to continue the cancer journey with their child,” Said Danielle Munao, Family Services Director of Candlelighters. “So many of the parents have shared with me after the holiday is over how much it meant to them that complete strangers, that they have never met before or may have never met at all, cared so much about their family to make sure that their children had the best Christmas. They are reminded that they are not alone during this difficult time in their lives.”
Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada is a non-profit agency that provides support and services for families of children diagnosed with cancer. Candlelighters serve approximately 100 families monthly, and as many as 600 families throughout the year. Children from birth to 21 years of age who have been diagnosed with cancer or who have survived cancer are eligible for services if they are living or being treated in Nevada. On April 26, 2014, the March of Dimes held their annual March for Babies event at the UNLV North Field.
